When you first start off on the game, it can be overwhelming and confusing as to where you need to expand your island. One of the first places that you will use is Maya's Hot Spring but that location does not require you to expand to that site.
The next location you will need to use is the Smugglers' Cave.
The cave is located north of your "house". Do not worry about expanding the to left or right of your path up north. Most of the time you will the Geodes and random treasures that contain Sunshines, Money, Hourglass, etc.
After you expand north, you will want to start expanding to your left (West) along the coast towards the Shipwrecked Boat. Doing so will allow you to eventually hit upon Luis' Lookout.

What is Luis' Lookout on FarmVille Tropic Escape
At a cost of $40,000; Luis' Lookout is available for use at Level 23 to create torches. The Lookout is located near the Shipwrecked ship.
The Merchant Shipwreck, is noted below, is available at Level 24. I haven't reached that level yet so I'm not sure how much it would cost but I am currently saving up money for it. I'm sure that the cost of the Shipwreck will be more than $40,000.

What Are Iron and Silver Ores Used for in Farmville Tropic Escape
When your characters have the chance to explore in Smuggler's Cave, you will get items such as the Iron Ore (brown rock), the Silver Ore (blackish silver rock) and the Blue Crystal.
What is interesting is that when you are at the level where you can explore the cave, you will most likely not have the chance to use them to make anything. So, while you may be tempted... TRY NOT TO SELL THE SILVER ORE or THE BLUE CRYSTAL. These are hard to come by and they are used to make the Dolphin Necklace at the Jeweler
Silver Ores are also used for making the Sextant and even the Treasure Key. While you cannot see the Treasure Key in the picture below, it is the image slightly faded located below the Gold Bar. I can't remember at what level you can obtain the workshop but it is somewhere before Level 22.
When you have the chance to make crates, you will not have the option to use them until you purchase the Lobster Trap. Obtained somewhere around Level 22 (again I can't remember exactly), the trap costs around $35,000.
Once you trap Lobsters, you can make your Lobster Rolls at the Sushi Stand and sell them as is as required. Have fun with the game.

How to Get More Checklist Items on Farmville Tropic Escape
So, for about two days I was not really paying attention to the tasks on Farmville Tropic. The tasks can be accessed by selecting the clipboard usually located on the lower lefthand corner of the screen.
When you select the Clipboard, a screen similar to the following will pop up...
As such, each person has a Quest for you to complete. These Quests can usually be completed without intention by filling orders on the Guest Orders. If you select the person, the details of the Quest are given as well as the reward that you will get if you complete the Quest.
When you complete the Quests, the Quest will have a "Complete" sign on the individual.
***Important: if you want to get your reward and get more Quests, you need to select on the completed Quest and claim your reward.*** I was being silly and for the first two days of playing this game I just thought "cool" I completed the Quest, guess I don't need to do anything else... WRONG!!
So, once I selected the "Completed Quest", new Quests popped up to be completed and the madness of Island fever continues.

How to Earn Money on FarmVille Tropic Escape
The main way to make money and credits to Level Up on FarmVille Tropic is by completing tasks (aka orders) listed on the Guest Orders board.
Otherwise, you can search for money at the Temple Dive or Secret Chamber. The Temple Dive becomes free to use after a certain number of hours (listed below the green bar) or you can pay your way to enter. I prefer to use my Freebie since most of the items can be made on land, purchased from the Boat located near the Silo and Boathouse Storage, or possibly trade with Facebook friends (worth a try, I have not done so myself).

How to Expand Island on FarmVille Tropic Escape
Island Fever! FarmVille Tropic Escape is absolutely addicting. As you purchase more items and land plots, you will find that you need more land space to place your field, Sushi Stand, Mill, Artisan Workshop, and many more. That is, you need to expand your island area.
Areas where you cannot place items will be highlighted in light green boxes as shown.
Areas where you cannot place items will be highlighted in light green boxes as shown.
Unfortunately you need to reach to Level 10 to expand your island. When you do reach Level 10, items will pop up on the screen as shown below.
To find the items required to expand the island, they can be found at the Coral Reef, using your gems (I don't recommend using your gems since the only way to get more slots in your shops is through gems), or through treasures found at Temple Dive.
